Cool weather is coming into NE Georgia and causing many homes to have problems with pests coming in our homes and businesses. In the last couple of weeks we have had a large number of people calling and asking what the giant roach thing they have in the house, around here we know that as the American Cockroach or the Smoky Brown Cockroach. These two very common outside insect pests will show up when we have a drought, when it rains a lot and when it starts to get cooler, they really do not need a reason to come into your home.
Some of the questions we ask the homeowners are:
- Have you cleaned out your gutters lately? answer is usually NO.
- Have you just added mulch or other materials around your home? answer is usually YES.
- Do you have a lot of growth like bushes and trees around your home? answer is usually YES.
- Do you have any overgrown lots around your home? answer is usually YES.
- Is there a stream or other big natural area close to your home? answer is usually YES.
These are just a few of the reasons you may have an outside roach problem in your home. We suggest cleaning your gutters, and clean up around your home by trimming your bushes and other growth and removing all trimmings from around your home. By doing a little leg work around your home you may solve your problem. When you remove insect pest habitat you will also help with your spider problems. Also by removing and cleaning pest habitats from around your home you may solve your mouse problem before it even gets started.
If you do these steps and still have a problem just call A & E Pest Control, we are here to help you.
